To support the strengthening of supplementary education in three area synagogues.

The three-year project was designed to help synagogues develop to their fullest potential and build within their congregations a greater sense of Jewish identity, increased Jewish knowledge and literacy, and enriched Jewish living. Through the La’Atid program, each congregation and its school went through individual organizational change processes in response to each congregation’s’ vision, culture and needs. Each school worked with their professional and lay leaders to develop and implement their own experimental action plans. Latid’s model involved formal course work, retreats, and intensive ongoing mentorships and consultations.

Latid resulted in new opportunities for engagement and learning at all participating synagogues. New programs were created, which drew impressive numbers of participants.

This program grew to include a new focus specifically on school change and professional development. Educational consultants visited the synagogues on-site to lead monthly staff development sessions and were available for classroom observation and professional team building.
