jGirls Magazine – To support the creation of an educational curriculum for the Editorial Board and writers of its online magazine and growing community.

The Editorial Board of jGirls is composed entirely of its target population – Jewish, teen girls – who, in addition to creating and editing content, engage in experiential learning sessions focused on editing, writing, decision-making, leadership, and developing communication skills. Through this grant, jGirls will enhance and expand the existing Editorial Board curriculum and professional development learning opportunities. The existing curriculum accompanies the Board’s hands-on professional work with instructive, interactive sessions taught by leaders in relevant fields. It includes monthly distance-learning sessions focused on editing, writing, decision-making, leadership, and communication skill development.  Plans for enhancement and expansion include the addition of focused sessions including units on professional social media skills, to ensure editors can bring other girls with diverse opinions together and set a constructive civil dialogue within a Jewish context, and LGBTQ+ inclusion through a Jewish lens.
