Informal Education
Teens

To further develop and launch the Campaign for Jewish Boys, an initiative to help formal and informal Jewish educators better serve, teach and reach Jewish teenage boys.

From the Moving Traditions Website:

“”At Moving Traditions, we believe that when Judaism promotes self-discovery, challenges traditional gender roles, and celebrates a diversity of voices, it has the power to move our teens, our communities, and Judaism forward.

Through our field-tested programs Rosh Hodesh and Shevet Achim, Moving Traditions creates experiences that inspire Jewish teens to openly explore fundamental questions of identity and society. We help teens reach their full potential by connecting relevant content with enduring Jewish values, and by fostering positive peer-to-peer relationships through our trained mentors.

Together, with the guidance of Moving Traditions, more Jewish teens are growing into adulthood with confidence, compassion and a lifelong commitment to Jewish community.

Our Values
We challenge and discuss the fundamental questions of identity—the role of gender, age and Judaism.
We guide Jewish teens on the pathway to adulthood, through self-discovery, mentorship and positive peer-to-peer relationships.
We encourage conversation and collaboration for a more inclusive Judaism and the greater good.
We inspire a lifelong connection to Judaism and its teachings
Our Impact
Based in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, Moving Traditions has grown over the past 10 years to become a nationally recognized pioneer in Jewish education. Through work with almost 400 partner institutions across North America, Moving Traditions’ educational programs Rosh Hodesh: It’s a Girl Thing! and Shevet Achim: The Brotherhood have trained more than 1,300 educators and impacted the lives of more than 15,000 teens. In addition to expanding the curriculum and refining the training for these programs, Moving Traditions develops professional development seminars that engage hundreds of educators each year to challenges traditional gender roles, celebrate a diversity of voices, and move our teens, our communities, and Judaism forward.””
