Inclusion
Professional Development

This project represents a partnership between IKAR and Romemu. What excites you about partnering on this work?

I’m excited to collaborate with a community that shares the same vision and commitment to inclusion. Both Romemu and IKAR are part of the Jewish Emergent Network, so we’re thrilled to pilot this type of collaboration in our network and provide a model for sustainable change-making that other networks and communities might emulate. Because long-term change can be challenging, we look forward to celebrating our successes together and supporting each other when we encounter obstacles.

Which aspect of this project are you most eager to implement?

I’m looking forward to empowering our teens to work as one-on-one aides for children with diverse needs. I also see parents’ struggles firsthand, so I’m excited to bring parents/caregivers together as a group, so that they know and feel that their Jewish community cares. Overall, I’m looking forward to becoming a community that fully embraces all children and families.

What motivates you and keeps you inspired in your work as an educator?

The kids and families! I love when I witness meaningful moments—Hashkivenu during closing circle, kids cheering for each other on the ropes course, parents and kids learning together. I also love working in a community that shares my vision and values.
